Merry Christmas!!!!

Funk

I have been in this Funk for the last 4 months but today I decided that it's time to change that....time to start doing the things I love....blogging.....scrapbooking.....reading......and all the things that make me, well me.  I never thought we'd be here, but I realized last night I can't worry about things I cannot change and it's time to stop moping around and time to embrace life because life is way to short. 

This is the reason I get out of bed every morning with a smile on my face:

He is my World, my Life and the best thing I ever did!

It's time to embrace life and never forgot those we lost but always remember the great memories we created.

Yes Nico, you are #1 in my Book!!!

Prayers for the Turner Family

This is not someone I personally know, but I have read her blog over the years.  Sadly Julee lost her husband in a tragic auto accident over the weekend.  They have a 10 month old Daughter.  Having lost someone tragically near to my heart recently, I can only imagine the pain she is feeling and know she needs all of our prayers.

Dear Nico,

Happy 6^th Birthday Nico….I can’t believe you are 6 already?!?!  This can’t be happening so fast, Mommy isn’t ready for this!!!  Time is flying by way to fast and we are trying to cherish every minute of you, but I know like everyone says before you know it you’ll be heading off to college…..

This has been a BIG year for you as your started Kindergarten, and it has been such a joy to watch you but also sad to watch you grow up before our eyes.  I can’t believe how much you have already learned so far and how much you love school!!!  The first day we took you, you didn’t even hesitate as you said “Bye Mom” and walked into your classroom, which was great to see but sad for us to see you are growing up and becoming an independent little man.

We have had a lot of fun this past year, learning to write better, counting, adding and subtracting, learning the value of money and how to save it, even starting to read!!!  It’s been a joy to watch you continue swimming and graduating Eel’s to become a RAY!!!  Another great swimming accomplishment of many you have done over the past 3 years.  It amazes me the things you can do and when you put your mind to it, you do it no matter the challenges.

This has been a great year of making friends and learning what it is to be a good friend.   You are such a kind hearted child that in any situation you always want to be friends with everyone.  Your innocence makes us love you even more and gives us great pride in you!!!

We can’t wait to see what this next year brings and all the fun stuff we have planned!!  Nico, you are growing up way to fast….could you slow it down a little we aren’t ready for you to be 6 yet.

So today we celebrate you Nicolas Aaron, our pride and joy.  You are the best thing that happened to us and we love you more each day.

Nico and Connor had their first sleepover last weekend!  It was a great time of playing, snacks, movies, pillow fights and so much more!!! 

I couldn't believe at 9:05PM they both wanted to go to bed and by 9:30PM they were both out!  I guess that means they had a great time!

Our little fish is officially a RAY!  He passed his Eel class and is moving on!!!  It's amazing to watch him from his start of Mommy and Me classes to jumping into 8 feet of water and swimming to the edge....watch out Micheal Phelps.....here COMES NICO!!!!!!

 It was a warm August day when my little bugaboo, Nico started his first day of Kindergarten.  He was excited and could hardly wait to be dropped off at school, but Mommy was ready to grab her little guy and make him a baby forever!  How could this have happened he has just a newborn a eye blink ago, right??? 

He did great his first day, he walked into his classroom never looking back and was so excited to tell me about his whole day!  And believe it or not Mommy only cried just a little bit....he loves his teacher and his friends.  It's been a great experience and can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings. 

I am sure many adventures will continue and can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!!!

Growing Up

I am in denial.....

Total denial that in 12 days Nico starts...shhhhhh....kindergarten. Yes, it's a dirty word in our house....Look at these pictures how could over 3 years have gone by already.  I remember the first day of Pre-School like it was yesterday and now Kindergarten is here........how did this happen???  It was cute though he said goodbye to his teacher and friends, and when he got to the car Daddy said he started crying and said I am going to miss my teacher and all my friends who don't go to my school......bless his heart. 

So another chapter of our lives is closed, which is sad because Nico is growing up WAY TO FAST!!!  But another one opens as he starts Kindergarten in a few weeks :(  This Mommy isn't ready for this but excited at the same time.  I am sure the first day I will cry and he will have a blast and before we know it....shhhhh don't say.......it'll be Graduation Day....

For some reason I have been disorganized on keeping up with blogging and I really don't have an excuse....maybe it's laziness or life gets ahead of us, but I need to get back into it.  Not for anyone else but for me....it's an outlet, a way of remembering the things we have forgotten and to laugh at myself and think was that really me?? 

So whether anyone reads this or it's just Daddy and me....this is Nico's story and that is something that our family cherishes.  He is everything to us and hoping one day he'll appreciate all the funny stories and probably embarrassing one's too...but this is his legacy of showing how much the people in his life love him more than anything.....like we always say "Nico, we love you to the moon and back".

So if anyone does read this blog....stick with me I promise to be better about posting and for those family and friends who have enjoyed our photoshows all these years, I am going to try to get something going again there too. 

Believe it or not.....we are almost 6 years into this blog and our little angel is starting Kindergarten in a few weeks....I surely can't believe that!

I'll be back soon with lots of catching up posts of the fun Spring/Summer we have had and coming soon......Nico's adventures of starting school.

I know it's hard to see but Nico dressed himself this morning and since his waist is so small he had his leg hole around his waste and said "Mommy, I am dressed." 

I had to laugh and then thought I wish my waist was that small!!!

Safety City is a program that teaches pre-kindergartners the basics of Stranger Danger, Gun Safety, Bike Safety, Fire Safety and so much more.  This helps the kids prepare for Kindergarten and being away from their parents for the first time.  It's a great program that taught Nico a lot and was a great teaching tool to continue at home. 

He was so fortunate to have friends with him for this program as well as to start school in the Fall.  Hopefully these friendship will be lifelong, and don't you worry at his HS Graduation we'll be pulling out these pictures!!   It was a great week and now the countdown to school has begun....let's just hope Mommy can get through the first day......

Amazes Me

I know over the years I have praised things Nico has done, and everyone knows he is the best kid ever but once again he does something that makes me a Proud Mommy!

Daddy took him to see his Doctor and when they were done he asked about the suckers behind the window as they were checking out.  The nurse said he could have one and he asked for the green one please.

As they were leaving Nico says to Daddy, " I really wanted the red one but I didn't want to make her dig for it and the green was on top so I asked for the green one."

It's those moments when Nico does something like that, that I realize I guess we are doing something right.

After our adventures at the Zoo we found Gold!!!  It was a fun trip and can't wait for Summer to finally be here to start our Vacation fun.....we have a few day trips and 2 different week vacations planned with the hopes Daddy gets off work!!

Proud Mommy Moment!!!

Nico received his end of the year Pre-School Report Card and all categories were marked Good!!!  The only thing he needs to work on is tying his shoes, and if anyone wants to volunteer to do that I might even pay..ha! 

It's great to see how he has progressed and continues too.  I am hoping he is ready for Kindergarten which is in 3 months......who can believe that????  I mean 90 days people.....totally freaking me out!

Let's just hope Mommy is ready?!?!?!

It was a great weekend with my two favorite boys at the Columbus Zoo and Olentangy Caverns in Columbus.  Although our room was a challenge, we had a great time!  The caverns were a little intimidating to me as the steps were VERY steep but it was cool to hear the history of the Indians who once lived in them. 

Weekend trips like these are something that I love and spending time with the two people I love more than anything is this world....words can't even express how much it means to me.  As I have learned don't sweat the small stuff and enjoy every minute because one day you might not be here to enjoy it.
